First session was one of the best yet! The chanichim had lots of fun participating in peulot with their kvutzot (groups), specialist activities like arts and crafts, drama, swimming, sports, and ivrit (hebrew).
Chanichim had many opportunities to particpate in special activities, like our "hardcore farmers" who helped out farmer John and Jane and went berry picking. Other special activities included a visit to a water park by the solelim and to a petting zoo by most kvutzot.
Also thoroughly enjoyed was our special day, which was themed "IT's coming", where the chanichim spent the day cheering for their teams and participating in fun activities to train to "fight IT" (a mysterious creature). The madaztim (CIT's) also ran a special day, themed "Around the World in 80 Days".
Camp finished of on a high note with a King Kong themed banquet night and a Magen Boys dance party.
All of the counsellors are getting really excitited for the next session, and can't wait for the campers to arrive.

Camp Kicks Off!
The first four days of machaneh have been a blast!
The campers have had lots of special activities with their kvutza (age group), including a "bunk night" dinner with their group and special extra activities after the evening programs. We've also had a medura (bonfire) with the whole camp where the campers performed songs and skits, and this evening there will be fireworks for Canada Day.
Tonight there is a special activity during the middle of the night, called "enjoyment night". The theme is "where's waldo", and the chanichim will be participating in a variety of activities to find clues to waldo's location.
The amelim and chalutzim went on their tiyul (camping trip), which was a day-trip to another spot on our lake. They canoed, did nature activities, and cooked dinner over a fire. The Bonim also just arrived back from their tiyul which was an overnight trip to another near-by lake.
The camp is full of ruach (spirit), and this session is going great so far! More updates are coming soon!

UJA-Walk with Israel AND Camp Gesher!
The last few ken events were wonderfully successful, from our spring seminar at our lovely machaneh to Ofarim bowling, everyone had a blast.
But, there's still one more event before machaneh, Camp Gesher is walking in the UJA Walkathon for Israel!
Everyone of all ages is encouraged to come out, support Israel and represent Camp Gesher! We'll be meeting at the lost-children's booth in the regitstration area at Ricoh Coliseum. If you can't find us you can call us at 416-906-6433 on the day of the walk. Wear your camp t-shirts!
Our madrichim (counsellors) will also be running a booth at one of the rest stops which you can visit us at.
If you have any questions, feel free to email us at gesher.ken@hotmail.com
ALSO - PM Netanyahu is speaking at the opening ceremonies, if you wish to attend the opening ceremonies you must be registered ahead of time. Only the first 5,000 walkers can attend the opening ceremonies, so make sure to be there on time if you wish to take part in this (you can still do the walk if not). You must also be pre-registed.
For more info and to register, visit http://ujawalkwithisrael.com/opening
